ReThink911-NYTimes-BillboardThe New York Times ReThink911 billboard calls upon the “Newspaper of Record” to unerase the history of 9/11Recently ReThink911 raised $24,000 in three days to sponsor a billboard across the street from the New York Times Building during the month of November. The billboard asks the Times about its lack of coverage of questions about the destruction of World Trade Center Building 7. Four people will be leafleting at this location every weekday from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm until Thanksgiving. This is a great opportunity for anyone in New York and its environs to take part in this historic campaign. The Street Visibility Action Kits will be deployed!

A Cheap and Effective Way to Spread the Word about the Campaign

These ReThink911 stickers are effective, inexpensive ways to get 9/11 into the minds of everyone you know – and don’t.

Price $0.99
5 or more $0.80 each
10 or more $0.70 each
20 or more $0.55 each

Find this and many other great items in the store. I myself just chipped in with a friend on 500 of the ReThink911 Street Brochures, after having previously purchasing 100 myself.

My friend can be seen handing them out in a video on my previous post, "Help to Spread the Word About With This Street Brochure," while in front of the NY Times building in NYC. Which as many readers know currently has a 29-foot by 13-foot billboard directly adjacent to it, that calls out the Times for their lack of coverage of the campaign (which thus far has resulted in exactly the same amount of non-coverage, see related link below).

I on the other hand opted to just to hang my fliers up about my area like so. There is no shortage of creative ways to use these tools to inform people once you get to brainstorming, so please consider doing your small but important part in raising more awareness to this important and historic effort. The Times isn't doing their job so we have to continue on being the media and change we want to see.

Activist Post: ReThink 9/11: The Truth That Could Still Unravel an Empire of Lies

A really great article by Activist Post regarding the campaign and 9/11 truth the movement in general. However, this excerpt really struck me and so I've singled it out.

The 9/11 truth movement has no single manifestation, but remains driven and defined not by its most prominent voices, but by its mandate to counter a sea of lies and evoke something that establishes the truth. History may well view 9/11 not as the day America was attacked by a foreign terrorist group, but the day the United States – a once great republic defined by its Constitution and an established respect for individual rights and a separation of powers – began to nosedive into decline.

The reasons are numerous, even legion. So are the lies that began with that traumatic national wound. The truth then, necessarily, is detailed and multifaceted. It has many angles that each yield important pieces of a profound but simple revelation – a great nation’s laws, the American way of life, already undermined and deteriorating, was hijacked and transformed by the power of “magic.” Not supernatural magic directed by forces unseen, but a complicated parlor trick, concocted by a cadre of powerful illusionists who’ve taken the world for a sick, twisted and regrettable ride.

Untangling that lie – that is, even beginning to contemplate repair and restoration – requires confronting that truth, the essential truth, from whatever angle one finds to be a traversable path.

One of the most palatable, yet confrontational remains the question of World Trade Center Building 7.

Though it was not hit by a plane, nor severely damaged by the wreckage of the collapses of the Twin Towers, the 47-foot skyscraper, which housed important government and finance institutions, collapsed well into the afternoon of 9/11, and significantly, appeared to collapse just as buildings taken down deliberately by demolition do.

Its collapse – broadcast live during the chaotic and traumatic news coverage of the day – fits into the official story of 9/11 like a square peg into a round hole. WTC7 clashes so soundly with the version of events sold to the public, that raising awareness of its very existence has been enough to snap countless individuals out of their 9/11 “hypnosis” and allow other pertinent questions to be raised – and actually contemplated.

It was omitted from the 9/11 Commission’s final report, but officially explained via fires that brought down the support columns. While such fires did exist, they do little to explain the structural failure that caused the building to fall suddenly and completely at a rate quite close to free fall speed. After considerably delay, the National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST) explained away the event as if sweeping dirt under a rug to avoid embarrassment.

Instead groups like Architects & Engineers for 9/11 and various awareness campaigns –including ReThink 9/11 – have studied the case of WTC7 from the point of view of physics, science, public policy and common sense to present an alternative explanation considerably closer to reality.

WTC Building 7 has become a rallying point for 9/11 conspiracy realists – awakened to the fact that the fast & furious conclusion of the September 11 attacks were used to pursue a dark political agenda – and instead use its embarrassing, sore thumb, loose end of an existence (prior to collapse that is) to raise and perpetuate compelling questions that can not and should not be ignored.

What to Make of the NY Times Ignoring the Campaign?

ReThink911’s “New York Times Billboard” - Photo: Scott Star

What are we to make of the NY Times ignoring the campaign's above pictured sign directly adjacent to their building, the accompanying open letter to the Times, and over 500 letters from campaign supporters? 9/11 truth "debunkers" might have you believe this is evidence that controlled demolition theories are a bunch of hooey. However, while recently reading the excellent book 9/11 The Simple Facts - Why the Official Story Can't Possibly be True, I came across this little tidbit that I think sheds some light on the situation.

The very fact that people think they would know about something as major as 9/11 being an inside job is one of the main things that helps keep that awareness out of their consciousness. Here's a nonpolitical example:
The Wright brothers first successful flight, in December 1903, was long called a hoax by both the New York Times and the Scientific American. People believed that because they figured if the Wright brothers actually had flown, they surely would have read about the New York Times or the Scientific American. Even as late as 1906, the Paris edition of the Herald Tribune could headline an article on the Wright brothers: Flyers or Liars?
Mark Twain supposedly once said, If you don't read the newspaper, you're uninformed. If you do read the newspaper, you're misinformed. The blow-dried airheads on TV don't help, as they chime in with, "Oh, that's just a conspiracy theory. Ignore it and watch this cute story about a cat that's learned how to knit."

And it isn't necessarily just ignorance either. Former Deputy CIA Director Frank Wiser used to refer to the media as "The Mighty Wurlitzer"--for his ability to make it play whatever tunes he wanted."

(I'm not implying that the CIA was involved in 9/11. I'm just giving you an idea of how thoroughly some parts of the government control the mainstream media...or at least think they do.)
This underestimation of the power of scientific discovery even extended to the venerable New York Times. (In 1903, the Times declared that flying machines were a waste of time, just a week before the Wright brothers successfully flew their airplane at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. In 1920, the Times criticized rocket scientist Robert Goddard, declaring his work nonsense because rockets cannot move in a vacuum. Forty-nine years later, when Apollo 11 astronauts landed on the moon, the Times, to its credit, ran the retraction: "It is now definitely established that a rocket can function in a vacuum. The Times regrets the error.")
But that was a long time ago you say? Well just this year a Times story omitted and distorted facts regarding autism in a story headlined with what the Times dubbed a link to Autism and a "cancer gene." Emily Willingham at Forbes explained, among other things that, "the gene in question isn’t just a 'cancer gene.' It’s a gene that regulates the cell cycle, and changes in these genes can and do have effects that aren’t confined to cancer. Calling it a 'cancer' gene in this context is inflammatory, at best." Concluding her article by stating, " Autistic people and their families deserve more care than this, and readers of the New York Times deserve careful, accurate science writing placed in an appropriate context."

This isn't to say the Times does bad science reporting in general, I don't know if that's the case or not, it's just to say that readers should not decide issues based on the paper's choice of coverage, or the coverage itself, before looking into the issue themselves. As ReThink911's billboard says, The Evidence Might Surprise You.

So is it a worthy effort on the part of the ReThink911 campaign to get Times coverage? Absolutely. If the coverage was the least bit fair it would surely awaken many who dismiss 9/11 truth issues because "they surely would have read about the New York Times." That said, I think it's equally important, to let those people who stumble across the campaign and wonder why the Times ignored the sign and letters, know about the history demonstrating that the Times non-reaction doesn't necessarily reflect their being on the side of truth in matters. And of course this would also apply to any negative coverage, which both the Times and Scientific American have given the 9/11 truth movement in the past.
